Diamond Select Toys San Diego Comic-Con 2016 Exclusives

Diamond Select Toys is returning to San Diego Comic-Con with a slew of exclusives for everything from Deadpool and Civil War to Star Trek and Batman, and more. They’ll have shared exclusives with other retailers at the show, as well as a few items that will be only be available at their booth (#2607).

If some of their shared exclusives look familiar, it’s likely because PREVIEWS unveiled some of these a few weeks ago. For a list of where those exclusives will be available, swing by either the Diamond Select Toys booth or the PREVIEWS booth for a list.

So, let’s take a look at their exclusives heading to the con:

SDCC 2016 SUPERMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES CLARK KENT RESIN BUST ($60) – Limited to 1,600 pieces

This looks like a job for Superman! Channel your inner superhero with this exclusive resin bust of a bespectacled Clark Kent striking his most famous pose, ripping open his shirt to reveal the “S” shield underneath. The man who would be Superman measures approximately 6 inches tall atop a pedestal inspired by the iconic show’s art-deco architecture. You Don’t Need to Fight Anyone to See ‘Star Trek Beyond’ on July 20

While we all still waiting impatiently for news on how Comic-Con attendees will be able to score Star Trek: Beyond tickets – or indeed if there are even any left at this point after everyone from Phoenix radio stations to Quicken Loans have given out tickets – it turns out you actually don’t need to battle it out with any person or waiting room in order to see the film on Wednesday, July 20.

Select IMAX and premium large screen theaters across the US and Canada will play a special Star Trek Marathon on Wednesday, July 20, for the rebooted franchise and concluding with an early viewing of Star Trek Beyond. Additionally, those attending will also receive a full-size Star Trek collector’s poster designed by a Gallery 1988 artist, and a Star Fleet T-Shirt iron-on patch.

For those in San Diego looking for something different to do on Wednesday night, the marathon will be playing at the AMC Mission Valley 20.

Granted, the screening won’t have cast or the San Diego Symphony – but it’s a ticket that’s a whole lot easier to get your hands on. Tickets are now on sale.

Hasbro San Diego Comic-Con 2016 Exclusives [UPDATE July 1]

When it comes to San Diego Comic-Con exclusives, it doesn’t get bigger than Hasbro. With license to manufacture toys that are consistently at the top of the pop culture want list, this booth is always one of the craziest and has broken the spirits of more SDCC attendees than the Hall H line ever has. That said, if you want the best in Marvel, Star Wars, Transformers, My Little Pony, or the rest of these lines, you must commit to the Hasbro exclusive war.

Take a look at what will be bringing many tears of joy and frustration to this year’s Comic-Con:

[UPDATE July 1]

Just like every year, Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive reveal of Hasbro’s latest San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Black Series figure. This year, attendees can pick up an Obi-Wan Kenobi set, which also features the emergency hologram from Princess Leia (and the table features an embedded light to make her appear to glow). The figure also comes equipped with two lightsabers, and will retail for $44.99.

Forbes has the exclusive on Hasbro’s next San Diego Comic-Con exclusive, which is sure to please bronies. Hasbro will be offering up a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Discord and Fluttershy toy, featuring the show’s strangest villain-turned-companion. Fans can act out their favorite scenes with a Fluttershy figure which features nine points of articulation and a Discord figure. The two-pack is showcased within a colorful collector package that features detailed design elements, including stained glass window inspired art and a light-up base. Requires three “AA” 1.5 volt alkaline batteries, and demo batteries are included. The MY LITTLE PONY DISCORD & FLUTTERSHY figure set will be for sale at San Diego Comic-Con 2016. It will retail for $49.99

Polygon has the exclusive on a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive: a new Yo-Kai Watch Jewelnyan Set, which features a vinyl Dianyan figure and five exclusive Jewelnyan Yo-kai medals. It all interacts with Hasbro’s Yo-Kai Watch (sold separately), to unlock the character so players can recruit him to their team. According to Polygon, “This version combines the ghost cat with a diamond; there are several bejeweled re-skins, each of whom are represented on medals included with the toy”. It will retail for $29.99.

[UPDATE June 21]

Hasbro has unveiled the next two San Diego Comic-Con exclusives – which include a Micronauts Classics Collection and a Visionaries Mighty Mugg.

Ahead of the upcoming Micronauts movie, Hasbro is recurring the original Micronauts toy line with a collection that features recreations of figures from the Takara toyline from the 1970’s and 1980’s. The set features Galactic Warrior, Pharoid, and Orbital Defender – who each come with interchangeable parts. Veteran paint artist Ken Kelly, who created some of the most memorable packaging art for the original Micronauts toys, designed the bold artwork for this set. IDW will also be producing a convention-only alternate cover to their Micronauts comic utilizing the new product artwork from Kelly. The set will retail for $49.99.

The second San Diego Comic-Con exclusive is a re-imagined Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light Mighty Mugg set, which features Leoric, complete with his signature lion hologram chest plate. The vinyl figure will retail for $24.99

Hasbro announced their next San Diego Comic-Con exclusive: a  Transformers Generations: Titans Return Titan Class Fortress Maximum. The figure features robot, battle station and Autobot city modes which allows the figure to unite with Titans Return Leader Class figures (sold separately) to form a Cybertron City. The Convention Edition figure features collectible packaging and comes with a special edition poster, three accessories and a mighty sword for players to use in playtime battle. He retails for $179.99.

We’ve got the first, full reveal of a Hasbro San Diego Comic-Con exclusive: This year’s G.I. Joe set (and they’re teaming up with Transformers!) for the G.I. Joe and the Transformers Set ($99.99). The set features G.I. Joe characters Scarlett and Autobot Powerglide, as they fight Zatrtan and Soundwave, to re-enact the Transformers episode The Girl Who Loved Powerglide in an epic showdown. Zartan comes with three swappable faces, while Scarlett comes equipped with her XK-1 power crossbow.

Hasbro released artwork for their first exclusive of 2016, the Transformers Titan Force set. The set wil feature Windblade, Brainstorm, and Sentinel Prime in energized resurrection deco.

LEGO Super Heroes Mighty Micro Sets to be Displayed at SDCC 2016

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that LEGO is bringing three sets of Super Heroes Mighty Micro to the convention, where they will be unveiled ahead of a January 2017 wide release. The three sets are: Batman vs. Killer Moth, Wonder Woman vs. Doomsday, and Superman vs. Bizarro. The sets also feature vehicles and accessories, as the Batman set features a Batcopter and Killer Moth’s vehicle, Wonder Woman comes with a sword and shield and pilots her invisible jet against Doomsday’s car, and Superman comes with a car and Bizarro’s car.

They’ll retail for $9.99 (in January 2017).

Yahoo has now unveiled more of the Mighty Micro sets headed to retail stores later this year. They’ll first be displayed at San Diego Comic-Con (though they won’t be available for purchase). What To Expect: SDCC Preparation for July 2016

It’s now July, and that means that we can officially state that San Diego Comic-Con is this month. Are you prepared? Well, alright, no one is probably ever completely prepared, but your best option for ensuring you make the most of the behemoth that is Comic-Con is keeping up with the important news. But don’t worry! We’ve got you covered.

Here’s what you can expect over the next month:

Panel Schedule

Traditionally, this schedule is released exactly two weeks before the convention, which should mean that we won’t get a peek at the full, official schedule until July 7-10 — but with panel confirmations coming in left and right, we already know a good chunk of the full schedule. You can find all of the panels that we know about currently – which is over 200 – over at our master list of Announced Panels.

Exclusive Announcements

Oh, did you think there couldn’t possibly be that much left to reveal for exclusives? How wrong you are, my friend. July will be another onslaught of exclusives, with more still to come from Hasbro and Funko (including how their line will work – but you can read what we know about that situation here), as well as LEGO, Marvel, tokidoki, Super7, Symbiote Studios, the BBC America booth, IDW, Nickelodeon, The Loyal Subjects, Loot Crate, Mondo, and more.

Autographs

Offsite Announcements

Expect this to be a big, big month for San Diego Comic-Con offsite announcements. Yesterday we got our first word that both the Game of Thrones offsite will be back and that Nerdist’s Conival will return to Petco Park, but there’s plenty of news still to be had about that. We’re still waiting on more news about Sausage Party and In the Woods screenings, and anything else that might pop up – plus, there’s still all the big players, like the Petco Interactive Zone, Adult Swim, Star Trek Beyond tickets, Syfy tickets, and yes, yes – those coveted Conan tickets. And trust us, when we know how to get those? You’ll know.
