San Diego Comic-Con 2018 Badge Prices Revealed

With Creative Professional Registration set for next week (what?!), can Returning Registration be too far around the corner?

Comic-Con International seems determined not to repeat last year’s very late badge sales, with President John Rogers mentioning in Talk Back this year that he anticipated Returning Registration would take place in “the winter” again. While there’s no word yet on an exact date, we do have one piece of the puzzle: Prices.

Badge prices for 2018 have increased slightly, with adult badges ranging from $63 for a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday badge (up from $60 in 2017) to $42 for a Sunday badge (up from $40 in 2017). All four badges can be purchased for $231, or you can add $45 for Preview Night to make it $276.

Prices for junior attendees (13-17 years old) are roughly half the adult prices, and attendees 12 and under are free with a paying adult.

Here’s a look:

We’ll let you know when we hear anything about Returning Registration — but our money is on early-to-mid November.

Creative Professional Registration Set for October 11

After a sluggish start to badge and hotel sales for 2017, Comic-Con International appears to be moving the timeline up by a lot for 2018. While there’s still no date announced yet for Returning Registration for general badge holders, for the first time in our recollection, Creative Professional Registration appears to be the first badge sale to take place for next year.

Creative Professional Registration — for those who meet the criteria — will have their badge registration event on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.

Just like the last three years, Creative Pros are guaranteed a badge (for yourself only).  If you’re only needing a badge for yourself, don’t stress at all – you can go to this page on October 11 after 11:05AM PT to find instructions. You’ll have until April 12, 2018 to register, so really, don’t stress if you fall into this category.

For those wishing to bring guest(s), however, the EXPO Logic waiting room is back. You’ll need to make sure that your guests — regardless of if you’re going for a paid or complimentary guest badge — have their own Member ID, so make sure they sign up sooner rather than later. Prior to the sale, you’ll be given a professional access code to enter the room, just like general attendee’s registration code. Have questions about how the process works? Check out our guide to Returning Registration for a general overview of the waiting room process. Just like with that sale, you’ll need to enter the waiting room between 9AM-10AM PT — and the actual sale will kick off shortly after 10.

Then if you make it through on October 11, you’ll be able to register for one complimentary guest and/or one paid guest, while supplies last. In the past, the Toucan Blog have stated that they anticipate complimentary guest badges to reach capacity within the first half hour of registration — but paid guest badges rarely reach capacity, so as long as you don’t mind paying, don’t panic too much.

A four day badge plus Preview Night will clock in at $276.

And while CCI hasn’t spelled it out for 2018, in the past, paid professional guest badges for juniors (ages 13-17) cost the same as an adult badge. Those 12 and under can still attend for free, and don’t need to be registered in advance, only onsite.

Trade Professional registration will occur at a later date.

You can find more information on Comic-Con International’s site.

Will you be registering for a Pro badge? Let us know in the comments.

First Offsite for San Diego Comic-Con 2018: Disney D23 Member Mixer

It’s never too early to start thinking about San Diego Comic-Con 2018 – and just like that, we have our first offsite for next summer’s convention.

D23, The Official Disney Fan Club, confirms that their annual D23 Member Mixer will be returning to San Diego during Comic-Con, on Friday, July 20, 2018.

If the event is similar to previous years, tickets will be available only to D23 Gold and Gold Family members in good standing, and the membership card is required for entrance to the event. Exact time and location are still to-be-announced – and once it is, expect tickets to go quickly.

Last year, the mixer was 6pm to 8pm at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Volunteer Interest List for San Diego Comic-Con 2018 Now Open

We hope everyone is enjoying their SDCC off-season. However, it might be time for us to awaken from our Odinsleep — especially now that we have the first news for volunteers.

If you’ve been dreaming of being one of the most integral parts of San Diego Comic-Con – or if you simply want to yell “Walk, don’t run!” to Comic-Con attendees and have them actually pay attention – then listen up, because the volunteer interest list for San Diego Comic-Con 2018 is officially open.

You can sign up now, by going into your Member ID and clicking on the “Volunteering” tab and following the instructions there.

Note: The Landing Page link has not been updated as of publication. Here is the original CCI tweet announcing Volunteer Interest List opening:

This interest list does not guarantee that signing up will grant you a volunteer badge at Comic-Con. Instead, it’s simply your way of telling Comic-Con International that once volunteer registration opens up at some point in 2018, that you’d like to be notified to try for a remaining badge.

Returning volunteers will get first dibs at volunteer badges during Volunteer Registration, and do not need to sign up for the interest list.

Will you be signing up for the Volunteer Interest List? Let us know in the comments.
